Abstract


Discussing different spaces where Portuguese isone of the official languages (native or not) indicates that theuse of the term  Lusophony (and a number of expressionsresulted from it, such as:  Lusophone countries, Lusophoneworld  , Lusophone unity, Lusophone identity, etc) incitesdiverse interpretations and reactions in the context thatinvolves the Community of Portuguese Language Countries.This paper aims at reflecting upon this multifaceted"lusophony feeling" bringing data that point to anunderstanding dissociated from individualisms and 'ghosts'that the word LUSOPHONY has carried on.Index terms - Linguistic identity, Lusophony, Portugueselanguage.
