RFID – RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION: APLICAÇÕES NA ÃREA MÉDICA
Abstract
RFID is an identification technology byradiofrequency that uses devices called tags for analyzing,identifying and tracking objects or persons. Its range ofapplication are very wide, owing to they can be adopted foraccess control of places and rooms, in human been andanimal identification, in medical and many otherapplications. RFID in the medical field, like the focus of thisarticle, is emphasized, because it helps health careprofessionals in their patients treating and providing agilityto the processes, helping to reduce errors in this field. In acase study, the use of RFID in the treatment of glaucoma, adisease that strikes the eyes, will be addressed. One tagembedded in an intraocular lens is implanted in the humaneye in order to perform pressure measurements of this organand helping the ophthalmologists for the diagnosis of thisdisease that affects thousands of people around the world.Index Terms ⎯ RFID, Radiofrequency, Identification,Glaucoma.
