THE ROLE OF INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT WITHIN A RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

International standards are drivers of theeconomy, yet few institutions have dedicated standardsclasses that explain their role and function. This paperdescribes how faculty can incorporate internationalstandards development in an academic research agenda,using ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 37 biometrics sub-committee andthe US biometric standards committee (INCITS M1) as casestudies.
