SOFTWARE TOOL FOCUSED ON ALGEBRAIC CONCEPTS OF A GENERALIZED SIGNALS & SYSTEMS THEORY
Abstract
Signal and Systems (S&S) theory plays afundamental role in the educational background of electricalengineering as well as in other scientific areas. Inconnection with the mathematical modeling of physicalproblems –scattering, for instance- a generalized scheme ofthe S&S theory is currently under development, emphasizingthe roles played by infinite dimensional signal spaces, operator theory to characterize linear invariant and noninvariant systems, a generalized “spectral analysis” conceptand their connection to the theory of distributions. Parallelto the development of the generalized S&S scheme andbased on it, a software tool is being worked out. This tooltries to facilitate the students the understanding andvisualization of the connection between the usual S&Stheory and the algebraic concepts in our generalized schemeproviding with some practical examples related to the usualFourier representation as well as Hilbert and Besseltransformations and the relationship between all of them.Index Terms ⎯ Signal theory, operators, systems, softwaretool.
