Abstract


This article presents results of a research thataimed at verifying the underlying themes of the videos in theOrkut Profiles of the members belonging to a communitynamed “Biologia – UFPel†(Biology – Federal University ofPelotas). The community was created by students of thereferred university, who are Biology bachelors andteachers-to-be. Our aim was to identify if there were anybiology-related videos in those students’ profiles. Themethodology used was the netnographic. We understandsuch videos as “Training Objectsâ€, combining leisure,information sharing, as well as knowledge and learningdiffusion. The video is a technological artifact that works asan educative device – a new way of getting educatedmediated by information technologies.Index Terms ⎯ Orkut, YouTube, Videos, Training Objects
