Abstract


The scientific community, for centuries,consolidated communication through publications directedto specialists. Science reporters, meanwhile, became thetranslators of scientific idiom into common language. Thispaper shows aspects of the relationship between researchbeing conducted in the PIIC (scientific initiation program),which supports youth researchers, and journalism students.Students of communication courses were invited to take partin a short film festival. The CDC (Curtas, Documentários,sobre Ciência) festival focuses on scientific journalism andchallenges the students to discuss reality, certainties, risksand fantasies. The CDC promotes interactions betweenstudents of diverse areas of study, stimulating collaboration,discussion and perspectives of new projects among youthresearchers and students of social communication courses.Finally, the paper discusses the CDC aspects of motivation,transformation and preparation for civic responsibility.Index Terms ⎯ Relationship between research andjournalism; Scientific journalism, reality, certainties, risksand fantasies; Interactions between students, researchersand journalism.
