AURAL: A SONIFICAÇÃO EVOLUTIVA DE UMA COMUNIDADE ROBÓTICA
Abstract
This is a research for automatic and semiautomaticprocesses of artistic production. A new approachis presented which integrates Evolutionary Computation andReal World devices such as mobile robots and anomnidirectional vision system. Starting with an evolutionarycomposition system named JaVOX, a hybrid environmentnamed AURAL evolved. It uses trajectories produced bymobile robots to modify the fitness function of a real timesonic composition. This paper describes the components ofthe AURAL system, its evolutionary sound interface and howthe interaction between the real world devices wasimplemented. This exploration is also related with theconcept of self-organization in complex systems.Experiments involving machine-machine and humanmachineinteraction are described. From the AURALperspective, human and robots are agents of a complexsystem and the sonification is the emergent propriety that isproduced by their interaction and behaviour.Index Terms ⎯ Algorithmic composition, evolutionarycomputation, robotics, self-organization.
