Abstract

The present article presents a reflection on theway how distance education works. Once observed, especially if aspects regarding the performance andpresence of tutors and other professionals who act insatellite campuses are considered, this environment allowsus to acknowledge that it can’t be formally defined as itusually happens in the preparation of a presential class or inthe preparation of contents for a distance education class. The complexity imposed by those places demand some effortof improvisation, where the above mentioned professionalsbuild, together, a meaningful result in the process that mayhave similarities with the musical style called jazz. Therefore, the present work seeks to point similaritiesbetween the performance process of presential tutors andsatellite campus managers and the way how jazz works (inparticular its elements), as well as the main learningprocesses that take place in teaching satellite campuses.Key words - Distance education, Jazz, Tutor, SatelliteCampus Manager.
