TRANSPARÊNCIA E OPACIDADE: A BUSCA PELO REALISMO NA ANIMAÇÃO CINEMATOGRÁFICA

Abstract


This article investigates the search for realismin Animation Cinema, which boosted the development oftechnical, aesthetic and visual special effects in cinematicarts. With the advent of CGI technology, Animation hasmade possible, in a hyper-realistic way, the presence ofcreatures and environments never seen before by humaneyes in a movie. It also allowed the production of a hybrid,analogical and digital image, which has realism as its mainfeature and expression. This technology, when subverted bythe creative mind, can provide new levels of visualinformation, accounting for concepts and eitherexternalizing internal movements of the characters(emotions, sensations) or visually reinforcing elements of theaudiovisual discourse presented. In this context, wereviewed the concepts of transparency and opacity of the1970s’ film studies to discuss the use of Animation incontemporary cinema productions like   Waking Life and AScanner Darkly.Index Terms ⎯ Animation Cinema, Computer GeneratedImages, realism, transparency and opacity.
