RESPOSTAS FISIOLÓGICAS DE JURUPOCAS ( HEMISORUBIM PLATYRHINCOS) SOB CULTIVO INTENSIVO NA LAGOA DE MINERAÇÃO – JACAREÍ –SP
Abstract
This study evaluated culture performance andphysiological responses of Jurupoca raised in cages placedin an abandoned sand mining pool (Jacarei-SP/Brazil).Two stocking densities were established: 10 fish/m3 (T1)and 25 fish/m3 (T2). The fish’s health condition wasdetermined quarterly through a hematological variable(Ert, Hct, Hb, MCV, MCH, MCHC) and blood glucose.Water quality was monitored throughout the experimentalperiod by measuring temperature, dissolved oxygen, pHand electrical conductivity. In March and November, months where the water temperature was elevated, anincrease of Ert, Hct and Hb was observed. In August areduction in OD resulted in conditions of hyperglycemiaand increased Ert, Hb and Hct for T2, indicating a stresssituation. At the same month, T1 also showedhyperglycemia but less severe when compared to T2. Thisgroup (T1) showed a variation in the hematologicalparameters in order to establish a physiological adjustmentin lower OD concentrations.
