CAREER GUIDANCE WEBSITE AS A RECRUITING TOOL FOR ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS

JungHun Choi, Wieslaw Grebski

Abstract

Technician training initiatives are essential to
attract high tech industry to Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Partners in Education are coordinating efforts to train a
skilled workforce for local industry. However, there is a
misconception and lack of understanding about the existing
and future opportunities in the engineering technology field.
The lack of understanding is not only noticeable among
students and their parents, but also with teachers and
guidance personnel. This proposal describes the
development as well as the administration and funding of a
career guidance website for engineering technology. The
website is hosting the job predictions as well as job
descriptions in the engineering technology field. It helps to
guide the students toward their career destination point and
their teachers, counselors, and parents to many
opportunities for early technical experience in and out of the
classroom. The paper describes the website from the
perspective of recruiting students into the Engineering
Technology programs.
