NOVAS TECNOLOGIAS DE INFORMAÇÃO E DE COMUNICAÇÃO NA EDUCAÇÃO À DISTÂNCIA: LIMITES E POSSIBILIDADES DE UM CHATTERBOT COMO TUTOR DIGITAL

Abstract

From the Communication and InformationTechnologies, new technologically-discussed teachinglearningmodels have been developed. The necessity of anew education model focused on the student is affirmed overits needs, interests, style and learning speed rates and theInternet is presented as an ambient full of possibilities. Inthe Distance Education courses there is no direct contactbetween the student and the teacher. However, in thesecases, the concept of the tutor appears who has the functionto link the institution and the student, following up thelearning process. Despite the tutor’s existence, this cannotalways aid the student at the moment he/she needs, delayingquestions that, sometimes of simple nature, might haveanswers earlier. Through bibliographic research and theanalysis of some   chatterbots with or without educationalobjectives, the main attributes of the chatterbot tool areevaluated, being verified its practicability as digital tutor inEàD.Index Terms - Distance Education, Chatterbots, EàD Tutor
