Abstract


Over the years, threre was an increasing needof geo processing tools at the same time that cities becomemore crowd, confused and bigger. Usualy, Geo ProcessingTools and softwares widely difunded are proprietary. Thereis a lot of free geo processing tools but a beginner in GeoProcessing Area can feel lost. In this sense, this paperintroduces some basic concepts and four free geotechnologies that allow to register and view maps. Thetechnologies are: OpenJump, GVSIG, PostGIS and SQL.Index Terms ⎯ Geo Processing; Free sofware; Beginner.
