Abstract

How can we think cultural mediation in museums, schools, NOGs and diverse social areas in such contemporary context? How can we promote access to culture for audiences with different repertories, wishes and necessities? These questions have provoked our research group to think and study since 2003, in the Art Institute at UNESP/SP University, and currently, since 2009, in the Department of Education, Art and Culture History at Mackenzie University. Here we present the cartography of cultural mediation based on the concept of rhizome (DELEUZE & GUATARI, 1995), and art&culture territories (MARTINS & PICOSQUE, 2010). Our goal is to expand the concept of cultural mediation; map the multiple possibilities of looking to it; and also to shed lights on the mediation act and its potentialities. The territories present us questions which open gaps for specific studies that, enlarged by the interconnection among territories, reveal their complexity and openness to come-to-be.

Index Terms – Mediation. Rhizome. Art&culture territories. Contemporaneousness.
