Abstract


Are presented in this article, the perspectives ofSTS (Science, Technology and Society) in the relevanttransformations in engineering education. We examine theLDB (Law of Directives and Bases of Education) andCurriculum Guidelines that guide the engineering courses inBrazil and that underlie the construction of the pedagogicalprojects. Seeks to understand what is expected of theengineer in terms of skills and competencies. Allegations aremade about the appropriateness of adopting the STS as aninducer of important transformations in the training ofengineers citizens who have the ability to use the knowledgeacquired in the course to a more relevant work in the societyin which they operate.Index Terms ⎯ Curriculum, Engineering Education,Teaching Project, Science-Technology-Society (STS).
