Abstract

The implementation of governance practices inInformation Technology (GTI), widespread in largecorporations, can assist Higher Education Institutions(HEIs) both public and private in Brazil, resulted in greatercompetitiveness in the IT organization in your area,providing indicators for its monitoring and improvement.The reliability, integrity and availability of information,manipulated by an HEI, representing their survival in amarket scenario by the increasingly competitive nationaland international competition. Decisions are madeconstantly, by their senior managers, based on tacitknowledge that are not necessarily reliable information. TheIT Governance can be applied to consolidate the strategicneeds of information from senior management of the HEIand its processes in order to work focused on one goal, andenhancing IT in their daily lives, with strategic advantage intheir decisions.Index Terms - Higher Education, IT Governance;Knowledge Management, Strategic Decision.
