ANÁLISE ESPACIAL DE UMA DÉCADA DE MORTES VIOLENTAS POR HOMICÍDIOS, NA CIDADE DE JOAO PESSOA

Abstract

In the last ten years, the number of homicidesincreased in the Joao Pessoa City, in Paraiba state, Brazil.The knowledge on localization where homicides eventsoccurred is useful for Secretary of Public Safety in orderto prevent and to reduce crimes incidence. A tool whichcan help managers in decision making about places whereto put human and material resources to prevent thosehomicides is Geoprocessing. It allows spatial distributionanalysis of homicides and mapping their occurrences. Thepaper goal was mapping areas of homicide risk in the cityusing incidence, risk rates and spatial clustering.Index Terms ⎯ Análise espacial, epidemiologia,mortalidade, sistema de informação geográfica.
