Ana Lucia Torres Seroa da Motta, Francisco Angelo Freitas de Castro, Thiago Ribeiro Cerqueira

Abstract

This work deals with the analysis of the program PROCEL Reluz, managed by Eletrobrás, based on the concept of sustainability called Triple Bottom Line, which addresses the economic aspect (use of material with a lower overall cost), social (use of new material in construction lighting, mitigation of diseases, social interaction, etc.) and environmental (mitigation of visual pollution, air pollution and water and reduction of CO²). The waste energy coupled with the increase of light pollution has become an important issue to be addressed in large Brazilian cities. The program in question is aimed at saving energy in street lighting, and this is corresponding to a significant consumption of 9.7 billion kWh / year in the country. The purpose of this paper is to present alternatives to mitigate existing light pollution, energy waste, increase energy efficiency of the system and support of sustainable concepts in the public light system.

Index Terms – Construction, Public Lighting, Sustainability.
