PROMOTING BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING RESEARCH IN MULTIDISCIPLINARY GROUPS: DYSLEXIA DIAGNOSIS CASE STUDY
Abstract
This paper describes a successful case of collaboration by engineers within a multidisciplinary research group in order to solve the problem of making an early diagnosis of dyslexia in children at the pre-learning stage. This type of research paves the way for engineers to carry out their work in previously unknown fields, and if they work with suitable professionals, the success rate and satisfaction as regards results are increased. This successful case focuses on the areas of medicine and psychology and could be an example of work methodology with the aim of encouraging multidisciplinary actions of this type. Biomedical engineering is a field that lends itself to these actions and which, in this case, provides both scientific and social benefits.
