Marco Aurélio de Souza Ferrero, Ricardo Antonio Dias, Antonio Alves Ferreira Júnior

Abstract

This paper shows a design procedure forpassive analog filters using the Butterworth polynomials, which has characteristic frequency response maximallyflat in the pass band. These device are widely using inmany circuits of communication equipment in the area ofthe radiofrequency and microwave. Modeling the circuitas a two port network and through the analysis of thetransfer and characteristic functions it is obtained theequations for the design and synthesis of structure. Itexamines the zeros and poles of the transfer function andapplies techniques for removing it at the origin or atinfinity, according to the design specification. Thecoefficients are used for the calculation of the finalcomponents of the filters. Present the results obtainedthrough simulations validating the model.Index Terms ⎯ Butterworth filter, transfer function, characteristic function, two port network.
