INOVANDO NO ENSINO DA GEOMETRIA DESCRITIVA - UMA ABORDAGEM ATRAVÉS DAS COMUNIDADES DE INDAGAÇÃO
Abstract
One of the main goals in teaching DescriptiveGeometry is the development of the abstract thought throughtridimentional visualization. Per se, this makes DescriptiveGeometry one of the pillars that form the basis for abstractthinking. But although its importance, students are reluctantto study Descriptive Geometry. This happens because ofmany factors, like difficulties faced by the studentsvisualizing the tridimentional space and the relativecomplexity of the subject. Furthermore, DescriptiveGeometry is one of the first subjects studied and theresistance to study it is aggravated because of the students’immaturity. To reduce the resistance of the students thispaper describes a new approach in teaching DescriptiveGeometry based on Communities of Inquiry. In thisapproach the students assume an active role in learning andcognitive, social and teaching presence are sustainedthrough the four phases in the framework presented, i.e.,initial event, exploration, integration and solution.Index Terms ⎯ Descriptive Geometry, Communities ofinquiry, Communities of practice.
