Abstract

Employees hired by Petrobras on JuniorProfessional category must participate in a Training Courseat Petrobras University (UP). The Training Course forenvironmental engineers is offered by the Engineering andTechnologies School, at the Health, Safety and Environment(HSE) Coordination. This paper presents the coursestructure, planning and focus on continuous improvement. Arelationship between Petrobras operational HSE results andthe investments in environment related training andrecycling course is presented. The results indicate that byinvesting in environmental engineers training courses andincorporating HSE values in the company’s strategic planPetrobras has decreased its activities environmental risks.Quantitative indicators point out that training andenvironmental education are essential investments tosupport Petrobras keeping its mission and the establishedgoals of its strategic plan.Key words ⎯ Environmental engineering, Petrobras,Health, Safety and Environment, HSE.
