REDUÇÃO NO CONSUMO DE ÁGUA ATRAVÉS DA INSTALAÇÃO DE LOUÇAS E METAIS ECONOMIZADORES

Abstract

After a few hundreds of years since the humanbeing started to worry about its impacts on the environment,our attention was finally turned to the most preciousresource we have: the water. Not only grew the difficulties tocontrol its use, but other concerns about how it should bedisposed after dangerous use or how they could treat it alsoarise. The aim of this article is to present results of asimulated reduction of water consumption after replacingconventional water appliances for economic appliances. Thereplaced equipments were faucets, toilets, showers andothers, which were most commonly used. The data wassimulated in Excel based tables with flows acquired from theSewage Treatment Company of São Paulo. (SABESP –Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo). The resultsshowed an overall reduction of 50% by replacing olderappliances for more economic ones.Index Terms ⎯ Water Consumption, ConsumptionReduction, Sustainable Consumption.
