INTERACTIVE LEARNING OBJECT FOR MUSIC TUTORING BASED IN SEQUENCE ALIGNING ALGORITHM

Abstract

Music tutoring, piano in particular, is an oneto-one relationship between the student and professor, inmost cases. In order to verify if it is possible to provide amachine-student tutoring for music, a prototypeinstructional system was developed as an InteractiveLearning Object. The system shows to the student a musicalpeace on screen, in form of music sheet. And compares thestudent played song by sequence aligning algorithm,calculating the distance between the requested and playedsongs. The system verifies the student performance and themprovides a new musical peace with appropriate level, in acontinuous evaluation feedback. The student data can besent to a learning management system or web server, for atutor (professor) evaluation.Index Terms ⎯ Educational Technologies, MIDI, LearningObjects.
