UM ENFOQUE PEDAGÓGICO DE ESTABILIDADE ESTRUTURAL COM O USO DO MÉTODO DE NEWTON-RAPHSON
Abstract
One of the main objectives of structuralengineering has been to design structures more economicaland consequently more slender, without, however, compromising stability. By making them slimmer, they aresusceptible to lateral deflections, both in global or locallevel, particularly the steel structures, because theirtransversal sections consist of slender walls. This requiresan analysis structural stability approach involving theapplication of nonlinear Finite Element Method (FEM). Thisarticle presents a numerical-computational procedure forthe stability analysis of a nonlinear system with only onedegree of freedom to facilitate the understanding of thestudents on this subject. Then some necessary concepts andnumerical implementations can be used for the solution ofcomplex problems with many degrees of freedom.Key–words ⎯ Newton-Raphson method, Nonlinearanalysis, Structural stability.
