AVALIAÇÃO DAS PROPRIEDADES MECÂNICAS DE BLENDAS DE POLIETILENO DE BAIXA DENSIDADE (PEBD) COM POLIVINIL BUTIRAL (PVB) RECICLADO DE VIDRO LAMINADO AUTOMOTIVO
Abstract
This study comprises the obtainment ofmechanical and thermal characterisation of blends of lowdensity polyethylene/poly(vinyl butyral), recycled oflaminated glass from the automotive industry. In thisresearch two parameters were evaluated, the influence of thequantity of PVB used in the preparation of blends and thetype of mixing, using calender and/or extruder. The blendscontaining 5% PVB calendered presented the mostsignificant variations in mechanical properties comparedwith PEBD. For this concentration and for this type ofprocessing, the results of traction and flexion showed highervalues; the impact resistance decrease 2.4. The index offluidity increase 30% suggesting a possible degradation ofthe material by scission of main chains, in accordance withDMA results that indicated smaller temperature of the glasstransition. The results obtained for the softening pointVICAT and HDT not indicated significant variations.Key-words ⎯ Low density polyethylene, polyvinyl butyral, polymer blends.
