Abstract

The intensive care unit is an environmentdesigned to assist seriously ill patients, who benefit fromtreatment of high-tech and high complexity, requiringconstant nursing care and continuous. Humanization innursing is to understand each person in their uniquenessand specific needs, and have the head and heart in the taskto be undertaken professionally, so sincere and loyal to thepatient and to listen with patience and science words andmostly the silences. The aim of this study was to describethe humanization to the nurse who works in the IntensiveCare Unit-ICU through a literature review. We observedthe need for nurses to reassess their attitudes in order toadvance the quest for this ideal, which is necessary toengage fully in the humanization process in the ICU, sinceit is still a long way to go.Index Terms – Humanization of hospital care, respect forfeelings, nursing services.
