THE DEVELOPMENT OF PEDAGOGICAL COMPETENCES OF ENGINEERS-TEACHERS

Abstract

The contribution deals with the ways ofacquiring pedagogical competences by the graduates ofengineering, other than pedagogical, study programmes.The analysis of the current state of teacher-training for thegraduates of technical universities, who will teach specificengineering subjects in secondary or tertiary schools, isbased upon the data collected in the process of innovationof the study programme oriented on the teaching of specifictechnical subjects. The experience with the above-mentionedprogramme implementation showed that, despite thesatisfaction of both teachers and students, certainmodifications and innovations are inevitable. The graduateprofile of the study programme needs to be continuouslymodified in order to improve the graduate’s status inpractice and to optimise the balance of natural, technical,social, pedagogical and psychological sciences.The paperlists the innovations of the subjects’ curricula, methods andforms of training, regarding the latest educational issuessuch as information transfer.Index Terms ⎯ education of the PhD candidates,engineering pedagogy, pedagogical competencest, studyprogramme.
