A juventude na representação do vampiro em seriados televisivos: um estudo a partir da cultura visual

Abstract


This work has the objective to analyze the vampire’s representation in the north American TV series The Vampire Diaries. The intention is to present the myth and the process of identification of young people with the characters. The visual culture is treated as a theoretical referential which sees the image as an object involved in the formation of different social subjectivities and the construction of identities. For the realization of this research episodes of the first season of the series were shown in the Federal Institute of Goiás – Inhumas Campus, Brazil. Each episode was followed by a discussion involving teachers and students. The ideal of beauty of the protagonists and the personal conflicts were the subjects of many discussions. Giving voice to the people involved in the research was important to consider how teachers and students aresusceptible to build ways of seeing and preparing interpretations of the images.
