Golden Age of “Physical Art” in Moscow University

Abstract


Abstract - The period of 1960’s is known in Russia asKhrushchev’s thaw. It was the time when the iron curtainwas about to lift a bit and some new trends in art and insocial life began to develop. The poetry achieved its peakand was very popular among the student society. The youngpoets gathered in Moscow at the monuments of Pushkin andMayakovsky to read aloud their poems. The Department ofPhysics at Moscow State University became one of centersof these creative notions. The young poets and musicianscomposed their works and gained their popularity in spite oftheir being ignored by the “official art” recognized and fullycontrolled by the communist party. The Department ofPhysics created its own poets and composers to reflect thecontemporary changes in social life. Many representativesof this “Physical art” had the Ph. D. degree and wereknown in the world of Physics as prominent scientists.
