Abstract

The need to manufacture components of reduceddimensions and high added value in emerging markets, hasmotivated the major machine tool manufacturers to developequipment for certain industrial sectors. However, thespecificity of these items associated with a high cost, haveprevented their integration in the laboratories of universitiesor in research centers. Sometimes, even when available, thedevices with a high degree of specialization makes themunfit to carry out an educational activity and / or basicresearch. The present work shows a machine tooldevelopment with numerical control. Costs developmentwithout penalizing the overall equipment performance wasalso considered. The development of this machine as wellthe successful completion of a simple geometry (hole),allowed demonstrate that research groups of an area suchmechanical technology or even schools can, using thehuman and laboratory resources available to them, built anequipment to meet their educational/research needs.Index Terms ⎯ equipment, didactic, manufacturing.
