HOSPITAIS VERDES: COMUNICAÇÃO E CONSCIENTIZAÇÃO AMBIENTAL

Abstract

Given the environmental crisis in whichhumanity lives, sustainability has become an issueincreasingly present in our daily life. It is everyone’sresponsibility to find solutions to reduce environmentalimpacts. In this context, hospitals (as an institutionproviding health services) are turning their attention to beincluded in this trend. Some hospitals try to follow the newmodels of green building, while others built over time,seeking to invest in technologies and alternatives to saveinputs (such as water, electricity and gas). Communicationis a major channel used by hospitals that have opted todevelop projects for Environmental Management (with theactions of rational use of inputs and management of solidwaste) in order to promote environmental awareness in theiremployees. Such disclosure may serve as another way to thehospital to reinforce its corporate image.Index Terms – communication, hospital, sustainability.
