Abstract


This paper discusses the results of action"Water in the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM)",developed by Laboratory of Sanitation College ofTechnology (FT) / UFAM in partnership with the Pro-Rectory of Community Affairs (PROCOMUM). The focus ofthe research was to identify the microbiological parametersof groundwater used by the community Campus SenatorArthur Virgilio Filho, Manaus-AM. In this context theanalyzed samples were free from fecal coliform andEscherichia coli, in accordance with current legislation.Whereas besides the quality, rational use of water sets up achallenge contemporary development, the works also aimedto identify aspects related to its management and, therefore,were studied some hydraulic facilities and equipment thatrequire greater consumption of resource. In this sense theresults obtained indicate the need for wide research, and theelaboration of a management's plan predicated on controlwaste and the rational use of water.Index Terms ⎯  Contamination, groundwater, management, UFAM.
