Abstract

The proper disposal of drugs has been a dailychallenge in big cities. There is not regulation stating howbest to dispose of an expired or out of drug use. It a seem asimple question, but the product contaminate the rest of thecommon waste thrown away, compromising the properrecycling and still provide environmental riskscontaminating soil, storm sewers, sewer systems and other.The population is still unaware or do not know put up withthis situation, unaware that their share of contribution to therisk environmental damage.Because this matter is still notreleased by press organization, and governmental sectorsand outsourcing sectors, this paper, using data collectionconducted with consumers of pharmaceuticals in the cityItapevi in greater São Paulo, measured the level ofknowledge regarding this subject and the attitudes thatcould improve the outlook and awareness of the populationin favor the environment.Keywords - dispose of medicines; drug waste; environmentpollution.
