Abstract

The water passes by various physical and chemical processes in water treatment plants until it becomes suitable for human consumption. In this context, the steps of coagulation and flocculation are important processes in obtaining of treated water. The objective of the coagulation clotting crowd impurities while objective provide encounters between primary particles for the floc formation. During or after the flocculation, in case of increasing the of agitation velocity, the flakes collide and there might be break up. This phenomenon is called reflocculation which can cause variations in the characteristics of flocs, and therefore the efficiency of water treatment. This work investigates the flocs regrowing c and quantifies the efficiency of sedimentation with and without re-flocculation induced in jar test equipment using water with high turbidity, around 100 uT, and study water prepared with the addition of kaolinite.

Index Terms - flocculation, re-growing, re-flocculation, gradient velocity, sedimentation.
