ANÃLISE DA POLUIÇÃO NO ESTUÃRIO DE SANTOS – SÃO VICENTE (SP) POR MEIO DE CORRELAÇÕES ENTRE HIDRODINÂMICA E TOXICIDADE DA ÃGUA E DOS SEDIMENTOS

Abstract

The estuarine system of Santos - São Vicentecarries the largest port in Latin America, most importantindustries in the Brazilian coast and has a high occupancyrate for urban activities, industrial, port and tourism, and isconsidered as highly polluted area. These factors cited tojustify the conduct of research their environmentalconditions, such as those on coastal hydrodynamics andwater quality. Ecotoxicological tests have been used todetermine the levels of pollution in coastal areas, as well ashydrodynamic calculations are used to the knowledge ofecosystem functioning, providing the knowledge of themovement, in several scales space - time. This project aimsat understanding the correlation between hydrodynamicfactors and pollution in the estuary, through a system ofnumerical modeling MOHID.
