AVALIAÇÃO DA COMUNIDADE DE MACROINVERTEBRADOS BENTÔNICOS DA REGIÃO LITORÂNEA DE UMA CAVA DE AREIA EM JACAREÍ – SP
Abstract
This paper brings an assessment of the benthicmacroinvertebrates community present at an abandonedsand mining pool of Paraíba River watershed. The surfaceof the sand mining pool was almost fully covered bymacrophytes, mainly Salvinia sp. Macroinvertebrates werecollected from three points in littoral sand mining poolduring rainy (January, February and March) and dry (Mayand June) periods. The analysis showed the presence of 481macroinvertebrates of 22 taxa. Collectors were predominantand Naididae (Oligochaeta) was the most numerous familyof total community. Otherwise, Chironomidae was the mostrepresentative family in the dry period. Among the predatorsgroups, Coenagrionidae, Libellulidae, Ceratopogonidae andChaoboridae were the taxa that appeared with highestfrequency. Oligochaeta and Chiromonus sp. prevalenceindicates a trophic enrichment of the sand mining poolrelated with the dense macrophyte stand.Index Terms ⎯ Environmental impact, abandoned sandmining pool, aquatic macrophytes, benthicmacroinvertebrates.
