O PROJETO CIRSAN – ANÁLISE DA VARIABILIDADE SAZONAL DA CIRCULAÇÃO NO ESTUÁRIO DE SANTOS (SP) – MEDIÇÕES DE PERFILADORES ACÚSTICOS DE CORRENTES FUNDEADOS

Abstract

The ocean circulation in the coastal area of Santosis very complex and involves all forcings - tides, winds anddensity gradients. The Project CIRSAN - Analysis of theseasonal variability of the circulation in the estuary ofSantos (SP) had as main objective to determine thevariability of the system of currents in the estuary of Santos,with emphasis on the contrast summer / winter and theinteraction between the tidal and residual circulations,through data collected in situ and subsequent numericalhydrodynamic modeling of the region. It also determined theseasonal variability of water quality in Santos estuary andits correlation with the sea circulation. Acoustic profilers ofcurrents were deployed in the Bay of Santos, for continuousmeasurements of pressure and sub-surface currents, whichwere compared with measurements of sea level in Cananeiaand winds and currents data produced by numericalmodeling of the atmosphere and ocean.Keywords - Acoustic current profiler(ADP); processing ofcurrents data; numerical modeling hydrodynamics;circulation in the Bay of Santos.
