O PROJETO CIRSAN – ANÁLISE DA VARIABILIDADE SAZONAL DA CIRCULAÇÃO NO ESTUÁRIO DE SANTOS (SP): MEDIÇÕES SAZONAIS

Abstract

The ocean circulation in the coastal area of Santosis very complex and involves all forcings - tides, winds anddensity gradients. The Project CIRSAN - Analysis of theseasonal variability of the circulation in the estuary ofSantos (SP) had as main objective to determine thevariability of the system of currents in the estuary of Santos,with emphasis on the contrast summer / winter and theinteraction between the tidal and residual circulations,through data collected in situ and subsequent numericalhydrodynamic modeling of the region. It also determined theseasonal variability of water quality in Santos estuary(levels of fecal coliforms, chlorophyll-a, phytoplanktonbiomass, light absorption and toxicity) and its correlationwith the sea circulation.Keywords - physico-chemical parameters of seawater;numerical hydrodynamic modeling; circulation in the Bay ofSantos.
