THE POLITICAL, SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND PERSONAL IMPACTS TO ENHANCE PHARMACEUTICAL HEALTH CARE IN RURAL AREAS ON THE EXAMPLE OF UKRAINE

Abstract


Ukraine is the second largest country inEurope with a population of about 46 million people.Today the majority of medical health care services arestill provided by publicly owned health facilities. On theother hand the majority of pharmacies have now beenprivatized. The market for pharmacies in the cities issaturated while outside the number is permanentlydecreasing. The goals of this study are to find out whichnew business models could enhance the pharmaceuticalbusiness in rural areas. The main problems are thepolitical, economic and social environment in Ukrainenow. Solving these problems the personal situation of thepharmacists may turn to better conditions for health carebusiness in the rural areas. Nevertheless the improvementof the living conditions in rural areas is an importantcontribution to motivate the graduated pharmacists towork in there.Index Terms ⎯  Pharmaceutics, Rural Areas, Ukraine.
