Abstract

Reverse Engineering is not taught formally in the universities, this is due to the fact that generally it is confused with a piracy practice or well, there is not a clear vision about its applications to the didactic methods. However, it should be noted that reverse engineering is a legitimate methodology which is used to obtain technical information from a duplicate of an object or reference system. In the case of parts and components analysis, reverse engineering applied procedures to obtain information primarily from the geometry, dimensions and materials. This article presents the application of 3 Reverse Engineering procedures for characterizing the mechanical properties of a didactic component. Object of study hardness are obtained, also the stress-strain plot and the metallographic analysis. The objective is to generate didactic material for the systematic teaching of Reverse Engineering.

Index Terms - Reverse Engineering, mechanical properties, didactic material.
