Abstract


The successful of the daily teaching practice at a Technical University requires the use of tools to facilitate necessary learning for professional live of students, which involves didactic training of teachers. Competency-Based Education is implemented at Technical University of Southern Sonora (UTS), Mexico, and to achieve success on its application, it is necessary to train teachers in teaching strategies such as problem-based learning, the project method and the case method. This article presents the experiences from implementing a reinforcement program of learning strategies related to the competency model in UTS. The program was applied to teachers in the career of Industrial Processes. Teachers who used some of the teaching techniques have seen significant improvements in student learning and also reported the limitations and scope of these techniques.
