DESARROLLO DE EQUIPOS PARA LA MANUFACTURA DE MUEBLES RÚSTICOS DE LA ETNIA GUARIJÍA: UN EJEMPLO DE TRANSFERENCIA TECNOLÓGICA
Abstract
⎯ One of the most disadvantaged sectors of technological advancement is that of ethnicity. In Mexico, there are several indigenous communities that require the gradual development of technology projects that improve their quality of life. This article presents the results of a project aimed at developing technology for making handcrafted furniture for ethnic Guarijía, located in southern of Sonora State, Mexico. In the project developing paticipated the Incubator at the Technology University of Southern Sonora, engineering students from Universidad La Salle Noroeste, a spin-off enterprise specializing in Design and Manufacturing, and Training Center for Industrial Work No. 94. Machinery and devices developed for the manufacture of stools and other furniture. Finally, the participation of engineering students on technology issues involving the improvement of quality of life of indigenous communities, it shows that universities can contribute greatly to the economic, social and cultural development of the least protected sectors.
