Abstract

This paper describes the process of teaching and learning using the Blended Learning methodology in a Computer Science Technician Course at Instituto Federal de São Paulo, held in the campus of São João da Boa Vista, in 2011, to the subject System Development Methodology. The model used combines face-to-face classroom with online classes, mixing e-learning tools. The article starts by reviewing the literature on technological education in Brazil in computer science then portrays learning methodologies in traditional approach, collaborative e-learning and Blended Learning. The methodology used in this work was divided into theoretical components for face-to-face classes, practical components for laboratory classes using StarUML components and e-learning components using Moodle and GoogleDocs. The results obtained of the assessment of faceto-face students and online students achieved a percentage of 81% and 84%, respectively, showing that students learn in a satisfactory manner when perform activities in synchronous and asynchronous ways.
