Abstract


This paper deals with the use of simulation toolsin Engineering education. It is shown how the parametriclanguage available within a well-known finite elementprogram can provide a powerful tool for the teaching ofsome fundamental concepts approached in typicalengineering curricula. The proposed methodology isexemplified by the construction of mathematical models forthe analysis of the transient thermal behavior of massconcrete structures subjected to the heat generated duringthe process of hydration of the cement.Index Terms ⎯ Finite Element Method, Transient ThermalAnalysis, ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL),Simulation Tools.
