THE LINHA DO ABRAÇO PROJECT: CULTURAL MEDIATION AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES

Abstract

This research, still in a developing stage, aims atanalyzing art woks linked to new technologies and perceivedas a knowledge generating environment (NONAKA, KONO,TOYAMA, 2001). The main goal of this project is lesseningthe gaps there is between the Solar do Unhão Community(CSU) and the Modern Art Museum of Bahia, Brazil(MAMBA). Since the epistemology of the contemporaryfluid society (BAUMAN, 2001) complexity (MORIN, 2001;MATURANA, 2006; MATURANA, VARELA, 2004) demandsnew approaches that can enhance creative minds(BACHELARD, 1998), the question is how to incrementrelationship between this specific museum and thecommunities, whose members have been excluded fromcultural production, art handling, exhibition places. Theresearch team intend to have multimedia developed inconsultation with the people living in the CSU and believethe use of new technologies (LEVY, 2004; SANTAELLA,200) will facilitate the inclusion of community members inthe universe of visual arts.Key words - art and technology, complexity, Modern ArtMusem of Bahia, multimedia, knowledge creation.
