WORLDWIDE COOPERATION IN EE: THE EUGENE ACADEMIC NETWORK

Abstract


Erasmus Thematic Networks have workedsuccessfully towards the development of the European HigherEducation Area: several important results have been achievedand challenges for the near future pointed out. Among these:complete the Bologna Process, develop and spread aEuropean accreditation system for engineering education(EUR-ACE), make the engineering studies more attractive,offer good LLL opportunities and broaden the formation toinclude non-technical skills. European Engineering Educationshall also definitely look beyond the borders of the oldcontinent, aiming to affirm its quality and improve itsattractiveness across the Atlantic and in newly emergingeconomies. In the immediate future, EUGENE (EUropean andGlobal ENgineering Education), a new LLP AcademicNetwork in the field of Engineering Education will open itselfto the cooperation with academic, student, industrial andprofessional partners worldwide: the umbrella for thiscooperation has just been established through IFEES andcould serve brilliantly to this scope.Index Terms ⎯ Engineering Education, Academic Networks,international cooperation.
