HERRAMIENTA DIDÁCTICA PARA LA ENSEÑANZA DE SISTEMAS EMBEBIDOS EN CARRERAS UNIVERSITARIAS DE GRADO

Abstract


This paper describes an educational tooldesigned at Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina, forteaching embedded computing. The platform allows thedesign and implementation of systems based in the x86architecture. The I/O modules have been implemented withVHDL: an ideal tool for students to learn about embeddedcomputing at a detailed level because of its ability to modeldigital system components. The goal is to teach thefundamental concepts involved in the design of amicroprocessor based embedded system by means of ahands-on project. Typically, the project involves thehardware design, software development, debuging, andtesting of a small project within a semester class.
