COMPETENCIAS LINGÜÍSTICAS EN INGLÉS PARA GRADUADOS EN INGENIERÍA: NUEVAS TENDENCIAS

Abstract


The present world of information andknowledge has changed the working methods and hasgenerated new conceptions and demands. The universitymust promote the development of the appropriatecompetencies aimed at enabling students to perform asresponsible subjects in different contexts of the social,personal and professional life. In order to optimizeuniversity education, the need to analyze the demands inESP (English for Specific Purposes) field arises. This study–which is an advance of a greater project approved bySECYT- shows partial data as regards the Englishlinguistic competencies demanded to the graduates to beincluded in the labour market and advanced studies. Thematerial analysed so far was drawn from Internet, nationaland local newspapers. According to the results obtainedfrom this and other instances of the main project, aproposal will be produced to adapt the current approachesto the teaching of ESP at the university.
