Abstract


This is an introduction to the maincharacteristics of the Admission System in the School ofEngineering at the Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto,and the different steps that have been taken with the courseof time with the purpose of improving the conditions inwhich applicants access a university program. Over the lastdecade, admission to our/the school went from being anexclusively face-to-face activity, one month before the startof classes, to being a blended system of which online preuniversitylearning is an essential part, according to theresults obtained and students’ opinion. The drawbacks ofthis system include the still limited access to the Internet inmidland Argentina, the lack of a defined vocation amongyoung people, and the implementation of an admissionsystem which minimizes motivation for learning and stillcannot tackle the rates of academic failure which are aconcern for universities.
